Botswana Ash (Pty) Ltd is owned by the Government of Botswana and Chlor Alkali Holdings (CAH) Group, South Africa, at 50% shareholding each. Botswana Ash, commonly known as BOTASH and located in Sua Pan in the northern part of Botswana, began operating in April 1991.

BOTASH which is the largest producer of natural sodium products in the region, produces Soda Ash and Salt. The mine was established at a cost of P736 million, with an additional P100 million investment in supporting infrastructure of the Sowa township.

In the past, all activities of the mine were undertaken at Sua Pan – from production through to marketing, sales and administration. Today Botash has increased its footprints across the region with fully operating offices in South Africa and Zambia, dealing with mostly sales and marketing of Botswana Ash products
